'Yellowstone' Star Cole Hauser Has the Best Set Memoir

Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler) may not seem like the most sentimental animal guy on the Dutton ranch, but he loves his pets. Despite telling Beth he doesn't like dogs on the show, Cole revealed that he loves his horse off-screen.

Cole told film critic Kevin McCarthy in 2022 that he owns King, a Yellowstone horse. Cole kept in touch to make sure his horse was well-cared for between takes while on the ranch under Taylor Sheridan's watchful eye, ready for filming.

“He’s living the high life down in Texas, I promise you,” Cole told Kevin. “I called Taylor weekly on my horse. Is he fat? Maintaining his fitness? He's an athlete like Usain Bolt.”

Fans, always swooning over Cole, his role, and his real-life endeavors, recalled this ownership.

I adore this! On Kevin's throwback post, a fan commented that Viggo Mortonsen bought his Lord of the Rings horse and fell in love with him. “Amazing!

The horse-rider bond is magical and tight. Happy to hear you own King, another fan said. “He owns the horse! Someone else exclaimed, "That's up." Russell Crowe had the same horse in several movies and said they bonded. Very sweet, another fan said.

Cole isn't the only show horse owner. Naturally, showrunner Taylor Sheridan does. Dun It Chexinic, his bay gelding, appeared in Season 1, Episode 3 “No Good Horses.”
