UK visas 2025: Indians to face 11% higher financial requirements from Jan

New financial obligations for pupils Students requesting study visas to the UK as of January 2, 2025, will have to provide proof that they have enough money for living expenses:

The monthly cost of courses in London is £1,483 (about Rs 1.5 lakh). The monthly cost of courses outside of London is £1,136.

This covers nine months' worth of expenses for a one-year master's program, totaling £13,347 (about Rs 14 lakh) in London and £10,224 outside of it. Before applying for a visa, these funds must be held for at least 28 days in a row.

The current living expense requirements are £1,023 per month for other regions and £1,334 per month for London. These updated requirements do not apply to applicants from certain countries or students who are already residing in the UK.

Higher requirements for family visas There will also be a significant increase in the financial requirements for family visas:

In 2025, the income requirement to sponsor a family member will rise from £18,600 to £29,000, and then to £38,700 later that year. Candidates must demonstrate that they are able to provide for their dependents without using government assistance.

Other monetary prerequisites consist of: An annual salary of £3,800 for the first child. — £2,400 a year for every extra child.

In the event that these funds are unavailable, applicants might have to provide proof of their children's British or Irish citizenship or, in the case of some EU nations, that they are properly recognized.

To be eligible for exemptions, families who currently reside in the UK must prove that their child has been there for seven years since birth.
