New York's $8 million All-Star Slugger is acquired by the Yankees in a four-player trade proposal.

Juan Soto signed a record-breaking contract with the New York Mets, and the Yankees are still figuring out how to live without him.

Now that the optimal route to roster building isn't taking place, general manager Brian Cashman has a number of options to consider as backup plans. Would it involve making a trade for Alec Bohm, the third baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies?

After being acquired by the Yankees during the 2024 trade deadline, Jazz Chisholm Jr. assumed the role of third base. However, New York needs to improve its infield because first baseman Anthony Rizzo and second baseman Gleyber Torres are available.

Bohm might end up at the hot corner if the Yankees acquire him. Given that New York intends to move Aaron Judge to right field, that would allow Chisholm to move to either center field or second base.

In order to get Bohm to the Bronx, the Yankees may need to part with who? Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report offered the following suggestion as a contingency plan for Juan Soto:

Alec Bohm, third base, is acquired by the Yankees. - The Phillies acquire outfielder Everson Pereira, left-handed pitcher Brock Selvidge, and left-handed pitcher Nestor Cortes.

According to MLB.com, Selvidge (seventh) and Pereira (10th) are two of the Yankees' top 10 prospects, and Cortes could contribute right away to Philadelphia's starting rotation.

Bohm would provide the Yankees with a long-term, reasonably priced third base option. During an All-Star season, the 28-year-old slugged 15 home runs with 44 doubles and 97 RBI, despite his output waning in the second half.

According to Spotrac, his current market value for a long-term contract is $142 million over seven years. He is expected to make only $8.1 million the following season, though, and is subject to team control through arbitration through 2026.
