The Bible mentions a "monumental" structure in Israel that archaeologists found over 3,000 years old.
At the City of David in Jerusalem Walls National Park, an Israel Antiquities Authority and Tel Aviv University team found a nine-meter-deep, 30-meter-wide moat.
Its secrets have finally been revealed after 150 years of trying to identify the moat. Researchers believed the moat protected the upper city's temple and palace from the lower city.
Israel Antiquities Authority researchers said: "This is a dramatic discovery that opens up a renewed discussion about biblical terms for Jerusalem's topography, such as the Ophel and the Millo."
King Solomon builds the Milo and "closed up the breach in the wall of the City of David his father." (Book of Kings 11:27)
The excavation's director, Dr. Yiftah Shalev, said: "The moat was cut almost 3,000 years ago, when Jerusalem was the capital of the Kingdom of Judah under King Josiah.
Construction plans similar to the moat's date back to the Middle Bronze Age, about 3,800 years ago, according to the Israel Antiquities Authority.
