11 U.S. States on Alert: Massive Winter Storm to Bring Up to 18 Inches of Snow 

New York City Along with Long Island and southern Connecticut, is expecting a strong rainstorm. These areas have been warned of 60-mph winds and torrential rain by the National Weather Service. Rain, thunderstorms, and sudden gusts are expected by Wednesday afternoon as the storm worsens.

Michigan Michigan is one of the hardest-hit states, with the National Weather Service warning of heavy snow and strong winds in northern, central, and Lower Peninsula regions. Up to 18 inches of snow is expected, making roads dangerous and increasing accident risk.

Wisconsin Similar warnings for heavy snow and strong winds apply to Wisconsin. Snowfall can reach 12 inches in some areas. Southeast Wisconsin, including Milwaukee, is prone to ice.

South Dakota Some parts of South Dakota could get 18 inches of snow from intense snowstorms. Highways will be especially dangerous with 60-mph winds.

Wyoming Heavy snow and snowdrifts are expected in Wyoming. Up to 12 inches of snow and strong winds could hit the Bighorn Mountains.

CT/Long Island Connecticut and Long Island will have strong winds and torrential rain like New York City. Flooding is especially likely in coastal areas with 50-mph winds.

Pennsylvania Pennsylvania is also under watch for heavy rain in the south and snow in the north. The Poconos and Appalachian Mountains could get 6 inches (15 cm) of snow.

New Jersey New Jersey will have heavy rain and 50-mph wind gusts like New York and Connecticut. Concerns include coastal flooding and power outages.

Indiana and Ohio Heavy snow and freezing rain are expected in Indiana and Ohio. Missouri may receive 8 inches (20 cm) of snow, making major highways icy.

Missouri-Ohio: High Alert Snow and ice are expected in Ohio and Missouri. Missouri could get 8 inches (20 cm) of snow, and major highways may freeze.
